Where we are
Milton is made up of detached and semi-detached houses, tenements and high flats. There is a mix of private and Glasgow Housing Association housing. The manse is a detached property on Birsay Road situated about 10 minutes walk from the church building. Milton is one of the Church of Scotland's designated Priority Area parishes. In spite of many difficulties, Milton has a very good community spirit. There are a number of primary schools in Milton: Miltonbank, St Augustine's, St Ambrose, Rosvale, Milton School and Chimsyde. THe minister is chaplain of both Miltonbank and Milton School (a special needs school). At Miltonbank the pupils visit the church three times each year for a service, whilst the harvest service takes place in the school. The school consists of 176 Pupils. As part of the Religious Education programme, for example, primary 4 pupils are shown round the church and St Augustine's Roman Catholic Church and are able to discuss and fact find about it in conjunction with the minister and parish priest of St Augustine's. The minister is also the chaplain of Milton school which consists of 55 special need pupils and has an assembly once per year. |
